Welcome to my blog Upstate Girl, (a.k.a Follow Your Bliss Part II), I am an independently published author. This blog is all about writing and the stuff that inspires me to write, the joys and obstacles that come along with the writer's life, and my fascination with the psychology of people and what makes them tick...the human condition, as is...and my love for words, playing with them and making sense of them...and I throw in a few photos from my acre of the world just to make things pretty...sometimes there are things I have no words for, only pictures will do.

*Copyright notice* All photos, writing, and artwork are mine (

Sunday evening...

Milkweed pods
I really love these little pods, their shape and texture is gorgeous.

Tangled Wood
Another old maple on our property with a tangle of saplings and such...

Shard
An ice cycle outside my window...

Winter Tree, Winter Sky
My old maple friend caught my eye again, the frosty February sunshine on the silvery bark was so beautiful...and I love the contrast of the old limbs and the spidery twigs against the sky...I was amazed that I was able to keep a touch of blue in the sky...

I've been busy doing a little bit of this...and a little bit of that...this is some of what I've been doing today...I love creating black and white photos with a tint...I have done a bit of exploring marketing ideas for my little book, Dusty Waters...as you can see, I've added a "Buy Now" button in the side bar, various things will wind up attached to that...not just signed copies of my book, eventually photo's and artwork will be part of this...but one step at a time...there's much to do, I'll get there. I've been on a "break" from working on The Fractured Hues of White Light, but I guess I need to get back to it, the new proof is in hand and I'm feeling more like revisiting it now...

I love trees the way you describe them. One good thing about winter is seeing trees traced out in black against a clear sky in late afternoon.
